Baseball Wife
Baseball Season is the best season, well when it comes to fans. Don’t get me wrong in our family we love baseball, I mean for us baseball is our bread and butter. I never in my wildest dreams imaged I would marry into baseball. My husband is a baseball coach for an Minor league Affiliated baseball team. Six months out of the year we Interrupt our marriage for baseball. If I have seen my husband since spring training started 100 hours I might say I am lucky, that is why this baseball world is so amazing. Being a wife and a working mother of a 2 year old toddler makes the journey fun, scary and hard. In those six months my husband is away the time we see him is whenever I can get away from work, sometimes we go weeks with out seeing him. In that time he is missing out in the growth of our baby girl making each day hard and long. One thing he tells me once he is in the field it makes his days better. What can I say Baseball is Magical. Being able to inspire baseball players and coach them is what make the game of baseball even better.
Ever since our daughter was 6 months old she was brought into this baseball world, for her this is all she knows, It’s funny because she understands that her dad has to report to work. Thank goodness we have FaceTime it makes our morning and night great. Being able to see him and have playtime over the phone is great way for our daughter to keep her strong bound with her father.
Being a wife of a coach is hard, we are there when they have a long day even if we are 1000 miles away, we listen when things go wrong or when they are homesick. One thing for sure we are their number one fan. When people ask me what is your husband occupation and I tell them the first thing that they say is “how do you support his career? You guys are never together?” I have even been told “wow it’s like you are a single mother” That’s when I reply “it is not a career it’s a lifestyle” I support my husband from day one, I mean day one before coaching was even in the picture. He had a dream, that dream became my dream.
Love,
Elizabeth S.
